Laureus Sport for Good USA Grant Supports Training

Laureus Sport for Good USA has announced $4 million in grant funding that will benefit organizations throughout Illinois who use sport as a vehicle for youth development and violence prevention. The A Team for Every Child initiative is one of the beneficiaries of this grant, as Play Like a Champion joins a team of 41 grantees who will receive funding through the first-ever state funding program. Funds will be used build into athletes, coaches and parents in the North Lawndale Athletic and Recreation Association (NLARA) on the west side of Chicago. Play Like a Champion will train local trainers to offer coach and parent training, providing education and tools that support a positive, developmentally appropriate youth sports experience for local children. The grant supports efforts to provide A Team for Every Child while creating a sustainable, positive athletic culture in local programs.
